About Our Calculator

This tool is designed to be a comprehensive solution for all your academic grade calculations. We understand that students need to track their performance both within a single semester (SGPA) and across their entire academic program (CGPA).

That's why we've built two calculators in one. You can easily switch between calculating your SGPA from individual subjects or calculating your final CGPA from your semester-wise SGPA scores. Our goal is to provide a clear, accurate, and easy-to-use tool to help you stay on top of your academic journey.

How to Use the Tool

Using the calculator is simple. First, choose the mode you need:

  1. For SGPA Calculation: Select the "SGPA Calculator" tab. This is for finding the GPA of one semester. The tool starts with 2 subject rows. Click "Add Subject" for more, then enter the credits and grade point for each one.
  2. For CGPA Calculation: Select the "CGPA Calculator" tab. This is for finding your overall GPA from multiple semesters. The tool starts with 2 semester rows. Click "Add Semester" for more, then enter the final SGPA and total credits for each semester.
  3. Select Your Grading Scale: Before you start, choose between a 10-point or 4-point scale. This will ensure the calculations and input limits are correct for your university's system.
  4. Save Your Progress: Click the "Save to Dashboard" button to store your data for your next visit. This feature requires a quick, anonymous sign-in.
  5. Review Your Results: The results are calculated in real-time (once you have at least 2 valid rows) and displayed at the bottom.

Understanding Grade Points (10-Point Scale)

For the 10-point scale, your letter grades from your mark sheet correspond to the following points. Use this table as a reference when entering your grades.

Letter Grade Meaning Grade Points
OOutstanding10
A+Excellent9
AVery Good8
B+Good7
BAbove Average6
CAverage5
PPass4

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is your average grade for a single semester. You calculate it using the subjects from that semester only.

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is your overall average grade for all semesters combined. It gives a complete picture of your academic performance.

Why are credits important for calculation?

Credits represent the weight or importance of a subject or semester. A 4-credit subject has a bigger impact on your final score than a 2-credit subject.

In the CGPA calculator, entering credits for each semester gives you a more accurate weighted average. If you leave the credits blank, the tool will calculate a simple average, which is faster but less precise if your semesters had a different number of total credits.

How is the percentage calculated?

The percentage is an estimation based on standard conversion formulas. For the 10-point scale, the formula is `Percentage = CGPA × 9.5`. For the 4-point scale, it is `Percentage = (CGPA / 4) × 100`. Please note that this can vary slightly by university.

What if I enter an invalid grade or credit?

The calculator will stop and show an error message. It enforces strict rules to ensure accuracy: credits must be positive whole numbers (like 3, 4, 24), and grades must be within the selected scale's limit (0-10 or 0-4). The calculation will resume once the error is fixed.
